The Ansariyat Girls Group
Led by Sister Heba Tawfik and Sister Farida Lezzar)
- To create an open platform where we can discuss topics of interest to this age group (ages 13-22)
- Topic examples: Muslims as Citizens, Stories from the Quran and Seerah, Ibadah and Muslim Lifestyle
- Provide helpful resources
- Group volunteer opportunities
- Small group discussion, competitions and surveys to ensure their voices are being heard
- Weekly group meetings to socialize (now to zoom meetings)
Sisters General Islamic Knowledge and Islamic Etiquettes
Ages 7 & Up
Friday’s, 5pm – 7pm
Organizer: Rabia Nisar
Brothers Youth
Led by Amine Rama
- Objective: stay engaged and mentoring from older brothers (high school, colleges or post college) to younger peers (ages 15-25)
- WhatsApp group for open dialogue without judgment and lead by one of the youth (Br Furqan)
- Weekly or bi weekly zoom meeting to learn from guest speakers or open topic to have round table discussion
- Weekly or bi weekly meet at park for sports and activity (minimized during COVID)
- Guest speakers includes professionals as well as scholars/Imam
- We look forward to having more activities at masjid and find ways to stay connected with our boys and young men
- We also would like to look for other interesting speakers and guests that can captivate and connect with our group
- For 2021, we would like to work on giving back, volunteering for masjid and throughout the greater Houston area (maybe reach out to other organizations to help)
